Q4 Unit 4 W2: Expedition to Taipei, Taiwan!
In the second week of Quarter 4, Grade 10 went to New Taipei City, Taiwan. We have visited various tourist attractions including the National Palace Museum, the Guandu Nature Park, the Martyrs Shrine, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Yehliu Geopark, Shifen Waterfall and Jiufen Ancient Street. Numerous artefacts and collections were displayed in the National Palace Museum, majorly in Chinese style. I have seen the different forms of Chinese art like sculpture, calligraphy, cravings, painting and pottery. Besides the museum, other important buildings of the places that I have visited are built according to the Chinese architecture. I have noticed that those structures have similar features of Chinese architecture:
The architectural works are enhanced by painting and craving to make it look more beautiful.
Balance is represented in the buildings. The buildings feature a symmetrical design, where everything on both sides are the same.
Details are enforced for a purpose. For instance, each stairs of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall has 89 steps – representing Chiang Kai-shek’s age at the time of his death.
