Q3 Unit 3: My Sketches of the Human Heart
Below are the sketches that I have made. The first 2 sketches show the left side of the heart, while the next 2 sketches illustrate the right side of the heart. The following coloured version of the heart shows the anterior (front view) and the last coloured sketch depicts the transverse section showing the valves.
1st Black & White Sketch (Left Side of the Heart)
2nd Black & White Sketch (Left Side of the Heart)
3rd Black & White Sketch (Right Side of the Heart)
4th Black & White Sketch (Right Side of the Heart)
1st Coloured Sketch (Front View of the Heart)
2nd Coloured Sketch (Transverse Section of the Heart)
Reflection:
As I am a Biology student, I have a basic knowledge about how the heart and the circulatory system work. Creating the sketches enable me to have a deeper understand of the things that I have previously learnt. Through actually drawing the veins, arteries, ventricles and other compartments, I learn better than just reading from textbooks. I get to know how the heart is actually structured, from looking at it from various angles and not only from the front view. Moreover, from this task, I have learnt about the names and functions of the parts of the heart that I initially did not know of, such as the coronary sinus, anterior interventricular artery, and the pericardium.
