Q3 Unit 3: Research of the Human Brain
The brain is main function that controls everything that occurs in the body. It is among the largest and most complex organs in the human body. In the brain, more than 100 billion nerves communicate in trillions of connections known as synapses (WebMD). The brain is surrounded by a layer of tissue called the meninges. The skull (cranium) helps protect the brain from injury. It is divided into several sections including, the cerebellum, the cerebrum, the diencephalon and the brainstem.
Cerebellum: Is at the base and the back of the brain. The cerebellum is responsible for coordination and balance.
Cerebrum: It is the largest part of the brain, associated with memory, speech, emotional response, senses and more.
Diencephalon: Is inside the cerebrum above the brain stem. It is responsible for food intake control, sensory function and the body’s sleep cycle. This section is further divided into several parts like the thalamus, hypothalamus, and epithalamus.
My Reflection:
My for sketches of organs, I have chose to work on the brain and 2 other organs. The reason that I have chose the brain is because I believe that it is an amazingly complexed organ, that even scientists are unable to create an artificial brain. Before I make the sketches of the brain, I have conducted some research about it. This will make it easier when I sketch the brain later on, because I have a basic knowledge of the parts and how the brain functions.
