Q3 Unit 3: Debatable Inquiring Question: Has Art helped the world to develop?

I believe that art has helped the world to develop. Art is a form of expression. For centuries, various forms of art such as painting and sculpture are used to convey the perceptions and feelings of individuals. Like many well-known artists, their artworks live on forever for decades to tell the stories and experiences of the artists even though they have left the world. In addition, the world evolves from the activities of art movements.

For example, Pop Art rose in Great Britain in the mid-1950s and in the Unites States in the late 1950s (Adriana). It was a rebellion against Abstract Expressionists and challenged tradition assuming that the use of mass-media visual elements of popular culture is considered as fine art. This art movement was greatly associated and also brought about with the pop music phenomenon of the 1950s to 1960s, as well as the new fashion trend that featured superstars like Marilyn Monroe. The rise of Pop Art influence the society like never before, as it was the beginning when the advertisements, product packaging, posters, and comic strips were very popularly presented by the pop iconography.

In my opinion, artworks and art movements come and go, leaving behind its ideas to impact the world. Once a new idea comes, the previous one starts to fade and a new social norm is created. Therefore, the world will be constantly developing with the active activities in the art industry.
